Review - InkbirdINT-11I-B Temperature Probe
Wireless temperature probes are always of interest to me as I use rotisserie cooking frequently. My previous probe had started developing connectivity issues, so I decided to give this one a try.
First Impressions
At first, this probe had a familiar shape, and was shorter than probes I'd used before. Connecting to my phone took seconds, and the probe was immediately recognised by the Inkbird App. The first real difference I noticed was the ability to calibrate the probe for precise temperature reading. With my previous probe, I'd just learned the offset and knew to cook everything to about five degrees once the probe had reached temperature. Getting a precise reading and knowing I'd be able to adjust it in future if it every strays from true temperature was a real plus.
Operation
Stick the probe into food and do everything else from the app. The probe maintained connection for over an hour consistently meaning that I could leave my cook unattended. For testing I used a chicken over a rotisserie. I did notice that the white end had changed colour a bit from the smoke, but it actually wiped clean afterwards and went back to original colour. As a shorter probe, this was perfect for chicken, but I'd be hisitant to use it for bigger cuts such as rib roasts, as you'd be unable to track the temperature at the centre. However, Inkbird do have other longer models if you're frequently cooking larger pieces.
Conclusion
The connectivity from this probe was amazing, and the test cook turned out very well. This probe is going to allow me to retire me old wireless probes, although I'll probably get one of the longer ones as well for chunkier cooks.
